NATURAL BEEKEEPING MENTORING: For the Love of Bees
We keep honeybees out of love, without expectations. They are our teachers and guides and we are forever grateful for the color and abundance they bring to the world. Our focus on keeping bees is to nurture them, rather than for the purpose of extracting honey - however, if they are thriving and happy to share honey with us, we gladly accept this as a gift from the hive.
Whether you are a gardener whose always wanted a hive or two or an aspiring beekeeper ready to set up multiple apiaries, we will meet you where you are at with custom tailored mentoring sessions. Topics covered might include apiary set up including finding the woodenware best suited to your lifestyle and goals, how to install new bees into a hive, lifecycle of honeybees and the ways in which we can support them, inspection for disease and natural ways to assist your hive in staying healthy, harvest, medicinal honey infusions, and winterizing your hives. We’re also happy to help with re-homing swarms and introducing new queens.
Classes are best taught in person with some online prep work as well.
Mentoring for Natural Beekeeping costs $100*/hour for up to 3 participants. Sessions are seasonal and travel time will be charged for in person meetings. We are also available for larger private classes including school groups.
*please be in touch if the cost is a financial hardship to you as we offer several concessionary spots per week to keep our work accessible.
OFFERED BY NICO & RYAN WOLF
With over 40 years combined experience in beekeeping, Nico and Ryan have a deep respect for honeybees. They currently have hives in Vermont with plans to bring bees to their backyard in Brooklyn this coming summer. They have been mentoring beekeeping students from all over the world, some who have gone on to become full on apiarists and some who are hobbyist keepers. Their approach is both science-minded and heart centered and will meet their students and their bees where they are at.
For the last 10 years, Nico and her husband Ryan stewarded Golden Well Sanctuary - a retreat and regenerative farm in central Vermont devoted to re-potentiating our relationship with the living Earth through cultivating deeper and more meaningful connections between Nature, Spirit, Self and Community.
